What Have Some of Our Holy Fathers Said About the Eucharist?

12-09-2018Eucharistic Adoration

“Come to Me all you who are weary…” Matthew 11:28 Saint Pope John Paul II said: Closeness to Christ in silence and contemplation does not distance us from our contemporaries but, on the contrary, makes us attentive and open to human joy and distress and broadens our heart on a global scale. It unites us with our brothers and sisters in humanity…through adoration, the Christian mysteriously contributes to the radical transformation of the world and to the sowing of the Gospel.

Pope Leo XII said: Our own belief is that the renovation of the world will be brought about only by the Holy Eucharist.

Pope Pius XII said: In this manner [Eucharistic Adoration] the faithful testify to and solemnly make evident the faith of the Church according to which the Word of God and the Son of the Virgin Mary who suffered on the cross, who lies present hidden in the Eucharist, and who reigns in heaven, are believed to be identical.

Pope Paul VI said: Tirelessly promote the cult of the Eucharist, the focus where all other forms of piety must ultimately emerge…In the course of the day the faithful should not omit to visit the Blessed Sacrament, which according to the liturgical laws must be kept in the churches with great reverence in a most honorable location. Such visits are a proof of gratitude, and expression of love, an acknowledgment of the Lord’s presence.
