Saint Alphonsus Liguori was born in Naples, Italy in 1696. He was a bishop and also a great doctor of prayer. He wasdeclared a Doctor of the Church by Pope Pius IX. St. Alphonsus was the founder of the Redemptionist Congregation. He died peacefully in 1787. He was beatified in 1816 and then canonized in 1839. This is what he suggests about makinga private visit toourLord, present in the BlessedSacrament:

Place yourself in the presence of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.
Speak with Jesus Christ present before you as you would speak to a friend.
Ask forgiveness of your sins and faults.
Tell Jesus of your needs.
Ask Jesus for greater love of Him and your neighbor.
Remain in His Eucharistic presence praying prayers of love.

Saint Alphonsus Liguori once said, “You must also be aware, that in a quarter of an hour’s prayer spent in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament, you will perhaps gain more than in all the other spiritual exercise of the day. It is true that in every place God graciously hears the petitions of those who pray to Him, having promised to do so. ‘Ask, and youshall receive,’ says Jesus Christ.”
