How was your week? What was it that occupied most of your time this past week? As we continue to move along in Advent is Jesus more present in your life or is it still a struggle with all the other commercial preparations for Christmas?

Last week John the Baptist spoke about a 'path' and we are to prepare our hearts so Jesus can make our 'paths' straight. So that our path can lead us closer to God. Does the pathway that John the Baptist mentioned last week still seem a little difficult to navigate in your heart? Not to worry because in today's readings we have the Prophet Isaiah, Mary, Saint Paul, John the Baptist and Jesus all who are in our lives to bring us Hope. St Paul said, "The one who calls you, is faithful". The 'Good News' is that God is present with you right now. "Come, follow me", the words of invitation by Jesus who desires so much Joy for your life. It just requires your "Yes" to the Holy Spirit. Just as Mary said "Yes" to God who placed the Holy Spirit upon her to bring Jesus into this world.

Words from Pope Francis about "Joy and the Holy Spirit": Taken from "The Joy of the Gospel"

"Rejoice!" is the angel's greeting to Mary (Lk 1:28). Mary's visit to Elizabeth makes John leap for joy in his mother's womb (cf. Lk 1:41). In her song of praise, Mary proclaims: "My spirit rejoices in God my Saviour" (Lk 1:47). When Jesus begins his ministry, John cries out: "For this reason, my joy has been fulfilled" (Jn 3:29). Jesus himself "rejoiced in the Holy Spirit" (Lk 10:21). His message brings us joy: "I have said these things to you, so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete" (Jn 15:11).

Let your heart rejoice this week by speaking the words of Mary, "My soul rejoices in my God"
