A Warm Welcome to Our New Pastor

07-09-2017Weekly Reflection

We are pleased to welcome our new Pastor, Father Kenneth Brighenti to St. Magdalen de Pazzi. He arrives from Mount Saint Mary Seminary in Emmitsburg, MD., where he servedon assignment from the Diocese of Metuchen asDirector of Pastoral Field Education and Vice Rector.

He was ordained on May 28, 1988 at the Cathedral of St. Francis of Assisi in Metuchen. Since his ordination, he served as Parochial Vicar in four parishes in our diocese from 1988 - 2000. He became Pastor of St. Ann in Raritan in 2000 where he remained for nine years.

Father Brighenti holds a Ph.D. from LaSalleUniversity in Theocentric Studies. He has been blessed to have written books including Catholicism for Dummies, John Paul II for Dummies and Catholic Mass for Dummies. Hehas also co-hosted many shows on EWTN,including Web of Faith.

He looks forward to meeting parishioners and getting to know the life of our parish more intimately. Father Brighenti understands that the vibrancy of any parish comes from a rich liturgical life, deep trust in the Holy Spirit, a life of prayer and ministries focused on discipleship and mission. He is a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a member of the Amerigo Vespucci Society serving as a Chaplain and a Founding Chaplain for Unico.

His hope is that with his presence at St Magdalen's you come to understand his deep devotion of our Catholic traditions. That you experience his heart for evangelization, helping people grow in discipleship and to be witnesses of our faith so others maycome to know the 'Good News" of Jesus Christ.

As he settles into his new role as pastor, Father Brighenti would like you to know that he will be praying for all of us. He asks that you in turn pray that the Holy Spirit guides his arrival so St. Magdalen's continues to be "faithful to the meaning which Jesus Christ wished to give it and to the present needs of evangelization."
