Finding Strength Through Marriage Ministry

"For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them (Matt 18:20)." This scripture passage defines why we chose to get involved with ministries in the parish. Working together with other parishioners allows us to see the light of Christ in each person and inspires us to lead holy Christian lives. Our first child, Joseph Robert (Joey), was born in March, and we want him to know God's love and witness the way other families make God the center of their lives.

Before Joey was born, we taught CCD together. In teaching the children, we were learning more about our faith every day. Recently, Deacon Stephen and his wife, Rosemary, trained us to instruct Natural Family Planning. We have found NFP to be so enriching for our marriage, and we are excited to share this way of life with other couples. Lastly, we were asked to be members of the Marriage Ministry at the beginning of this year. It has been such a blessing. In today's media, marriage is not always portrayed in a positive light. Furthermore, with children it can be difficult to make time for one another. Marriage Ministry has helped strengthen our relationship and given us opportunities to celebrate marriage with other couples. In February each year, the team hosts a celebration of marriage where couples can listen to a couple speak, have their marriage blessed, and engage in fellowship.

Aside from focusing solely on the couple, the team wanted to engage families as a whole and incorporate service. On Saturday, July 30th, families from our parish will volunteer at the local Grow-a-Row to assist with their farming needs. We would like to invite you to participate in this event and to try out one ministry our parish has to offer. It is sure to be a rewarding experience where God is present and working in you. More information is provided in the bulletin and at a table in the narthex.
