I grew up in Peru and the faith was very important in my family. My grand-mother was always sick when I was a kid but she still smiled and was faithful to prayer; she translated this to her children. She taught us how to accept suffering with joy.
As a teenager I attended the youth group in my parish, which was run by Salesian priests. Our meetings consisted of: prayer, singing, and catechesis. This strengthened my faith.
I came to this country in 2002 and as I was leaving my own earthly mother to come here, I placed myself in Mary's hands. Mary is my mom; she is the one who taught me about love. She is the one who guides us to Jesus. She helps me to be here in this new time in my life, she helps me with my sadness. I met my husband Lorenzo in the Spanish Music Ministry, he played guitar and thought we could use some help! We both have a love for Our Lady and are involved in putting floral arrangements together for her feasts, including December 12th, Our Lady of Guadalupe. We do everything for her. I have the desire to give back to God for the many things He has done for me.
We would like to have children but we have not been able to, but we are not mad at God for this, we know that God has a plan and that His plan is perfect. He has given us talent; we have to use this for God's glory. We know that we are not alone we just put our faith in God and in Mary. She didn't understand but she said yes and we are going to try to do the same.
Betty and Lorenzo are involved in the prayer group, Pre-Cana, serve as lectors, Spanish RCIA, and organize flowers for the altar.BACK TO LIST
