Dear Parish Family:
As some of you may know, throughout the past several months, the parish staff and I have prayerfully discerned the need for a Director of Communications at Saint Magdalen's.
This individual will be particularly dedicated to building a tactical delivery plan with a strong focus on communications planning, development and implementation of internal and external communications focused on furthering the church's vision and mission. To that end, I am pleased to introduce to you St. Magdalen's new Director of Communications, Mr. Fred Proulx. Over the next several months, Fred will be visiting the various ministries to introduce himself and become familiarized with our parish family.
Fred Proulx, a native of Attleboro, Massachusetts, graduated from Emmanuel College, Boston, in 2006 with a BA degree in English Communications and Vocal Performance. In 2007, he attended seminary in Rome, Italy with The Priestly Fraternity of the Missionaries of St. Charles Borromeo (FSCB). Upon his discernment to a vocation to married life, Fred returned to the United States in 2009 and began work as the Director of Music and Worship at Our Lady of the Angels Parish in Trenton. He then transitioned in 2012 to his most recent position as Executive Director of The New Jersey Italian and Italian American Heritage Commission (NJIIAHC), based out of Trenton and Piscataway.
During the summer months, Fred will be assessing the various modes of communication that are used internally and externally at Saint Magdalen's. In the fall, assisted by a Communications Committee, he will work to create and implement an effective communication program designed to advance the mission of Saint Magdalen's, which is to echo Jesus' call to all: "Come and Follow Me." In particular, Fred will strive to apply modes of communication that will foster the New Evangelization at St. Magdalen's and in the Universal Church, inviting the community to encounter Christ among us.
Fred Proulx brings to Saint Magdalen's his deep faith in Jesus and love for the Catholic Church. He recently recounted, "I have come to experience in a very profound way Christ's love for me in my everyday life, through encounter and fellowship with those who follow Him. When I stop to consider the concrete ways in which God has poured out grace and mercy upon me in my time of need, inviting me to say yes to His request to "Follow Me", it becomes difficult to doubt God's mysterious presence in each moment of the day." Asked who his favorite saint is, he responded, "Saint Augustine, but my favorite quote is from Saint Irenaeus who said, 'The glory of God is man fully alive'".
Currently, Fred resides in Hamilton, NJ with his wife and two young children.
Please join me in welcoming Fred Proulx!
Joy in the Holy Spirit,
