Dear Parish Family:
This first week end of October is filled with many things happening all at once. From my perspective it looks like most of us are settling into our fall schedules. I want to make several important announcements in this letter today.
First I want to share with you that Father Peter Delimat has told me he has decided to return to his native home of Krakow Poland to minister. He has been with us here since June. While he was only here a short time his good-natured presence at Mass has made a positive impact on many. I take this opportunity to thank him for his service to our parish and to wish him all the best in his continued journey in the priesthood. We will have an opportunity to wish him well and say goodbye as he celebrates the 12:00 Mass next Sunday, October 12. There will be a reception for him in the Narthex of the Church.
This week end is Respect Life Sunday. As such we are all reminded of the great gift of life and our call to protect and love all life from conception to natural death. Each year we have the privilege to participate in the Life Chain on this Sunday, which takes places right here at the Flemington circle. It provides a great opportunity for us to witness by our presence, that all of life is sacred and that abortion is a grave evil that we must pray and work to eradicate. This can only happen through prayer and constant dependency on God for everything. The Church does not condemn those who have participated in an abortion, but rather reaches out to them in love with words of healing. St. Pope John Paul II in his 1995 letter for life spoke beautifully to women and men who have been involved in abortion; "Do not despair, with God, nothing is definitively lost. If you have not already done so, hand yourself over to sincere repentance and accept help from friendly and professional people to assist you in your healing. You will one day be numbered among those most eloquent who seek to protect the life of the unborn."
Please join us to make a silent, prayerful, peaceful witness for all the unborn. The Life Chain is from 2:00 to 3:30 this afternoon.
This coming Tuesday we will celebrate the Feast Day of Our Lady of Holy Rosary. At 7:00 pm we will have a special Mass to honor Mary and also provide an opportunity for those who have participated in the Consecration to Jesus through Mary to make their public commitment. The Mass will conclude with a beautiful process of the Statue of the Blessed Mother. This is a wonderful way to come closer to what really matters in our life. It doesn't matter if you took part in the 33 days of Consecration leading up to this night. It is really a great feast day for everyone in the parish. I look forward to celebrating with you. There will be a light reception afterward.
This coming Friday, October 10th, we will have a guest speaker at the 9:00 Mass to introduce us to the Legion of Mary. We are interested in beginning a Chapter here for those who feel called to grow in Marian spirituality and to put that spirituality at the service of the Church. The Legion of Mary is a very inspiring organization in the Church that I discern will be a great force of good in our parish.
Please keep all of evangelization efforts in your daily prayers. God is doing great things in so many people's lives right here in our parish.
Please keep me and our parish in your prayers. May Mary our Mother bring us close to her Son,
